Chronic Concussion Recovery Program

A concussion can impact far more than just physical symptoms. When symptoms persist, it can feel frustrating, isolating, and overwhelming.

Rediscover Life Before Concussion

A concussion can impact far more than just physical symptoms. When symptoms persist, it can feel frustrating, isolating, and overwhelming. The Chronic Concussion Recovery Program at Coast Therapy was created to support individuals who continue to experience symptoms long after their initial injury.

This program is designed for people who:

  • Have ongoing or recurrent concussion symptoms
  • Feel they have “plateaued” in recovery
  • Are struggling to return to normal work, activity, or daily life
  • Want a structured, focused approach to understanding their symptoms

Understanding Chronic Concussion Symptoms

Persistent post-concussive symptoms can look very different from person to person and may include:

Physical Symptoms

  • Ongoing headaches
  • Neck pain or stiffness
  • Dizziness or balance challenges
  • Visual disturbances
  • Sensitivity to light or sound

Cognitive Symptoms

  • Brain fog
  • Difficulty concentrating or remembering
  • Mental fatigue

Emotional & Systemic Symptoms

  • Irritability or mood changes
  • Sleep disruption
  • Feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated

Chronic symptoms are not always a sign of permanent damage — they are often influenced by multiple overlapping systems in the body.

Program Overview

No-Charge Phone Consultation

A brief call to review your symptoms, concussion history, and goals. This conversation helps determine whether the Chronic Concussion Recovery Program is the right fit for you.

Comprehensive Intake & Assessment

If appropriate, a full in-person assessment is completed, including:

  • Detailed concussion history
  • Physical examination
  • Safety screening
  • Review of any relevant imaging or prior care

This process helps clarify contributing factors and informs next steps.

Intensive Treatment Phase

Care is delivered over a short, defined timeframe, typically 3–5 consecutive days, with sessions lasting approximately 90 minutes each.

Sessions are structured to allow focused care, rest intervals, and progression as tolerated — with the goal of supporting recovery without prolonged, indefinite treatment schedules.

Home Progression & Education

Between sessions, patients receive guidance focused on:

  • Rest and sleep prioritization
  • Hydration and nutrition awareness
  • Gentle breathing strategies
  • Light autonomic regulation when appropriate

Education is a key component — helping patients better understand their symptoms and how to support recovery outside the clinic.

Recovery & Follow-Up

A follow-up assessment is typically completed 10–12 weeks after treatment, allowing progress to be reviewed and determining whether any additional support is needed.

The program is designed to support lasting results, without the need for frequent ongoing visits.
