Founder/Partner – Coast Therapy
Anita Wilson started her career as an RMT in 1997, and with a previous background in Medical Office Management she opened Coast Therapy in Port Coquitlam in early 1998 (previously Coast Therapeutic & Sports Massage). She served on the Board of Directors for her professional Association (RMTBC) for over 12 years, the Board of Directors for SportMed BC for 8 years, and remains actively involved in all operations and services offered at Coast Therapy.
Anita has vast experience in sports therapy and has worked with athletes from the amateur to pro level, including being part of the prestigious Host Medical Team and providing therapy services to athletes during the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games. She also worked with the First Responders community and military veterans which provided valuable understanding of the unique symptoms and conditions – both visible and invisible – that they often experience. With extensive training in numerous therapy applications and rehabilitative exercise, and being known for being extremely thorough in her assessments and patient education, her reputation for helping patients with chronic conditions who may have had limited success with other treatment makes Anita an invaluable resource for patients trying to find the “right” practitioner or therapy for themselves.
Prenatal care, postpartum recovery, infant and pediatric massage hold a special interest for Anita. She is the mother of two young boys and has a passion for helping women and babies through all stages of pregnancy and development. She has taken numerous professional development courses for the perinatal states including complications of pregnancy and postpartum conditions, and also to took additional advanced studies in pediatric injuries and children in sport.
Anita is the recipient of many nominations and business awards including being awarded the 2019 Extraordinary Leader Women Influencer Award and the 2017 Port Coquitlam Business of the Year award, multiple years of awards and recognition with both the Tri-Cities and Ridge-Meadows Chamber of Commerce, as well as honorary awards for her dedication to the associations and organizations she has been part of. She has dedicated herself toward leadership and mentorship, especially within her profession and for other women in business, and continues to be involved as a sponsor and supporter of many local women’s and moms’ groups.
A devoted Canucks and Whitecaps fan, and long-time resident of Port Coquitlam, it was Anita’s interest in an active lifestyle and natural health choices that led to her career in massage therapy. She has a background in personal training and nutrition and has been active in numerous sports including competitive softball, weight training, fitness, snow sports, yoga and kickboxing. Anita now balances time with her young family and her career, focusing on the growth and development of the team & patient care services at Coast Therapy, and is available for patient enquiries, clinic management consultation, community involvement opportunities, and professional consultations by request.
